On a recent trip back home, I visited my local gallery literally a 5 minute walk from my house. The Hepworth was built in tribute to Barbara Hepworth and also displays other sculptures by up and coming as well as well established artists. It is very nice to have a place of cultural interest in the highly un-cultural town that is Wakefield, although from the mutters of old ladies on the bus, it would seem its minimal façade of grey concrete hasn't been well received by the locals who have deemed it ugly. However, despite this the spacious interior is a place for inspiration with lovely artworks and views over the river.
